I've been wracking my brain to see if I missed anything.

The bit of advice that I have not seen here (but FEMA has it as a suggestion) is: Agree on a relative or a friend(s) that live some distance from you (out-of-state) in case things get bad in your area.

If you become separated, call this/these friends. An out-of-state phone call may be easier to make than a local call.

This is very true. During Hurricane Floyd,we could not reach my parent's house which was 30 miles away, but we could both reach my brother in Ohio. It was through him that I found out my mom and dad were OK.
