I think it is suspicious that they waited till this week to talk about Y2K. They must know something that they are trying to warn us about, but they can't let TPTB know they are aware of the CDC, because FEMA and the DOE would throw the AXE at them. ABC, NBC, CBS, UPN, PBS, WB, and FOX have to protect the sheeples, while at the same time not doing anything to upset Hamre or Koskinen. Gore knows this and is probably planning this as his power grab, but ol' slick willie billie bob is a lot smarter than TPTB will give him credit. My sources indicate that he will solve y2k singlehandedly if he has to all for the selfish reasons of going down in the history books as a great leader.

Yes, this is suspicious that they should be talking about y2k today.

Jane Garvey of the FAA was on. Seemed like the poorest performance of the lot. She claimed end-to-end testing last April. Yeah, right. Also, Cokie pointed out that the GMT rollover is at 7 PM EST/4 PM PST, and that more planes would be in the air. Wasn't made an issue that her publicity flight would occur after the GMT rollover, not during.

Agreed. Eeven my optimist stance is shaken by this breed. 3 day storm? Common sense precludes that IF everything IS as you say---no problem---then why the storm preps?

Mara, personally, I've been prepped for over 8 months now. But if this is the message this group--this government--is trying to put forth, aren't we encouraging panic in stores, in banks, in the streets???

One item of note from today's segment is that Sam Donaldson will be reporting from the $50 million Y2k Information Coordonation Center on December 31st. I wonder what Sam Donaldson's views on Y2K are and whether or not it's significant that Sam will be there and not someone else.
