Gun sales:

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Just popped over on "USA Today," to see what they had to say. I am link impaired, forgive me. They say that sales are up 14% above several very busy months, and Dec is usually the lightest month for gun sales. Figured you would be interested.

Congress is scheduled to vote on several gun control measures when they return from Christmas recess in January. The last media speculation I heard was for swift passage of the bills (to among other things, "regulate" (read: destroy) gunshow sales) in order to diminish potential political reprecussions in September.

Don't worry. Here is a snip from Jim Lords post msg id=002629

If Y2K is anything more than moderate, Politicians and Bureaucrats will be subject to one of this nations greatest political house cleanings. The Year 2000 elections will smash all records for tossing incumbents out on their ear. Both parties will be treated equally. It wont have much effect on the primaries because most of them happen during the early stages of the Y2K Crisis. One exception to that could be Al Gores presidential aspirations. Y2K will cost him the nomination if there are significant power outages, water failures, chemical accidents or nuclear mishaps.

If Y2K is nothing, then I might worry about new gun laws. If Y2K is a 6 or worse, expect some politicans to be lynched. The politicians will be trying to divert blame too anyone but themselves, the polly-sheeple won't admit that it is their own fault, so expect them to blame politicians and Bill Gates.

All congresspeople have e-mail addresses. Contact them through these. They or their staff are usually willing to read and respond. Let's hope they listen. (votes count, it supports their glutenous lifestyle) the only congressworm I never heard back from was Howard Coble on his backbone of a jellyfish vote on HR2122 (gun control). Our Forefathers gave us our rights to protect us from the forthcoming tyranny. Our Foreskins are trying to take those rights away. Let them know what you think. It's still a semi-free country. Bear arms, or wear chains.

Shooter,

I think your old fashioned insight into the election is charming, but perhaps if we looked at the candidates platforms on China then we would have better accuracy in such a prediction?

Their numbers might even be a bit low. Husband relayed a person he works w/bought a gun a few days ago and took 2 hours at Wal-Mart as there were that many buying them.
