The guy backed out selling us the kerosene heater, NOW WHAT?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

We were buying a kerosene heater through a guy on the Internet. It was to be delivered tomorrow. Now tonight he emails and said the manufacturer ran out so I need to find one locally somewhere. I called every hardware store in town, Kmarts, etc and they are all sold out! Now what am I supposed to do? I am SO angry! Why didn't he tell me a week ago!?!?

How about buying a PetroMax from BriteLyt? If you purchase the 500cp version you can also buy a burner adaptor to convert it in to a one burner stove. I'm sure that the lady at Britelyt can ship it next day to you assuming you're willing to pay the freight charges. Be sure to order extra mantles, just in case. Maybe a spare globe if you want to be 100% backup. Plus the PetroMax will burn any liquid hydrocarbon.

I went to the site and unfortunately they are sold out. SHOOT! I thought I had a place to buy one. Thanks for the information though. Hopefully something will turn up and I can overnight mail it or something.

Today at Kmart I saw in the camping section 2 indoor propane catalytic heaters on the shelf (Coleman), $49.95 and propane cannisters to use with it. See if your local store has some.

Melissa, are you sure they are sold out of the 500cp? I couldn't find that info on her website. Give her a voice call at (727)856-9245 Eastern time and make sur they are out of stock. The 150cp units appear to be in stock.

Melissa, where are you? I have a kerosene heater still new in box. If you are close enough geographically, I can probably help out. J

I just ordered 2 Petromax 500cp lanterns. They said that they have over 1000 in stock!

I was telling my Mom last night that I was worried with no heater...she thinks I am crazy! She said oh nothing is going to happen anyway, you probably won't even lose electricity so STOP WORRYING. I sent her all of the links and copies of paper articles. Is she blind? Anyway, I'll still be buying a heater. I told her not to come here when she is hungry! LOL Of course, I'd share but what a pain.

Melissa Oh and we are in Maine.

Good luck, Melissa. I am in the midwest, so it's not like I could just drive right over and drop my heater off. We went the woodburning stove route, hence the unopened kerosene heater. Good luck again. J

Melissa, try this place. I'm link impaired. They have new and rebuilt kero-heaters. Goodluck!
