I've created a ONEList forum for backup communications

greenspun.com : LUSENET : HumptyDumptyY2K : One Thread

Membership is NOT open -- this means "ladylogic" and her ilk will be denied access, and if they slip through, their accounts will be cancelled.

To join, sign up at http://www.onelist.com/community/TB2000-Alternate.

Thanks Ron;

Thanks, Ron. How long does it take to have the account activated once you sign up?

-- Tim (pixmo@pixelquest.com), December 29, 1999.

I just activated the first wave of subscribers.

I'm wondering if I should open up membership, and then ban any trolls/abusers that show up? My concern is that people who want to sign up would have to wait for me to be able to log in and approve them. (contrary to popular opinion, I do *not* spen 24 hrs/day at the keyboard [g])

I'll go with whatever the consensus is, please post here, or email me with your suggestions on that. Thanks!

my vote is to let in all than start banning from there...that way there is not a wait for those of us of truly wish to stay in contact..thanks for creating this ron...

Ron,

Where do I submit my blood sample and retinal scan that ONEList requested?

-- Hokie (nn@va.com), December 29, 1999.

Amy: unless there are a flood of objections, I'll probably do that before I doze off tonight. If it doesn't work out (translation: if the abusers sign up) we can always have it revert back to approvals for joining.

Hokie: I can sign you up if you like, it should make it a little easier. I know ONEList isn't quite as easy as a "real" listserv, but it's free and it's available.

Ron, it says there are no messages, so i thought i would be first. But, even after posting, it says no messages....

How long does it take to get a message posted?

-- Postman (ringstwice@lw.ays), December 29, 1999.

We are terminating this thread as we have to many on this topic. Please go here:

Postman: I sent a welcome message and it went out in a few seconds.

thanks Ron. I signed up and then came over here to read the rest of the messages. Have not checked Hotmail yet to get the particulars

Thanks Ron! Your efforts are very much appreciated!! I just signed up.

You're all quite welcome. Hopefully the list will never be needed, but it's good to have a fallback system.
