Washington Post: As Jan 1 draws near, doomsayers reconsider

greenspun.com : LUSENET : HumptyDumptyY2K : One Thread

Everybody goes polly.

http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A37377-1999Dec26.html

Now let me see if understand this convoluted polly logic. The event has not happened but now these new pollys have a clear crystal ball with no more information than a month ago when they were "doomsayers".

Did I miss something here, or were these 'doomsayers" really closet pollys cashing in while they could to make a fast buck?

For crying out loud, why not at least wait until Jan 1 before you eat crow if we have to (unless you're too afraid to face the music if you're wrong). After all one just never knows who may have the last laugh when the high probabilities of failures spelled out by RC and others with their very sound facts and arguments turn out true.

I concur! I wish people would wait till after the 1st to make their judgements.

(By the way, I'm not a Christian but I have studied the religion, isn't there a little blurb about the "end" coming like "a thief in the night"? Things can happen VERY FAST in this world...)

the doomsayers will get it in the neck either way

If its ABITR - they'll get mocked and humiliated

If its anything else, people will not give them any credit for being right, they'll be too many real life problems to get involved with

Christianity is not necessarily a relgion, it's a way of life. Catholic, Jew, Lutheran those are religions. True Christians just go about life and try to be helpful people, as we do not know the day nor the hour nor the year that things will happen, kind of like you better have your heart right at any second -- not that hard, just be a good person and care about others.

Doomers after the last couple of years have undoubtedly developed some very thick skin so it really makes no difference what happens.
