Why can't the polly crowd see there's more issues than Y2K?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Rollover/Back-Up Forum : One Thread

I don't understand why the pollies and the debunkers are so determined to believe that y2k is a non event.

If the computers go out and we have a few problems, so what? If they don't, so what?

I'm not into conspiracies, or black helos, or whatever, but I am concerned about the window of opportunity that the diversion of y2k offers.

13000 hate and supremacist organizations who want to bring down this government, and possibly see the problems associated with y2k as their only opportunity to start their revoloution.

Third World terrorists who look at the US as the cause of all the worlds problems. (BTW the Islam holy month of Ramadan ends Jan 6, 2000) This is a period of fasting and reflection on Allah, who according to beliefs, rewards followers for actions that they do.)

The fact that the Red Chinese now control the Panama Canal.

The fact that Russia can launch a first strike, while their military people stationed in our Nuke Command Center in Col. Springs will tell us the blips on the screen are only glitches.

The fact that Cyberterrorism is a real threat. and can disrupt an entire country at the push of a key.

The fact that our military is so decimated and will be so spread out during y2k, that we couldn't fight a real ground war if we had to.

The fact that almost our entire navy will be in port during the rollover.

The fact that our ICBM Launch on warning system has been shut down.

The fact that if someone were actually trying to make this country as defenseless as possible, they couldn't do a better job, than what has been done now.

I think that many countries throughout the world are envious of the US because we don't have millions of unfound landmines, residues from exploded weapons which pollouted much of the land in Europe, and we are isolated from antagonistic countries by oceans.

To read the gibberish some people post laughing off y2k, as a non event speaks volumes on their lack of awareness of the world around them.

The bulk of misinformation I have seen posted on this forum came from the polly's.

I agree, but we are all privy to the same information, it's just how we interpret it. Is someone who claims something really in the know? Or are they assuming as well? Who does on belive? It's all subjective, and do to the legal ramifications, I don't think anyone really in the know would say much anyway.

I, for the sake of family, will err on the side of caution.

And yes, the world has always been a dangerous place, but it now boils down to first strikes, and windows of opportunities.

If the pollys can't comprehend potential problems with computers, what makes you think they can comprehend anything else?

Good point, BiGG. Pollys are stupid morons.

"It is not possible to awaken someone who is pretending to be asleep." An old Navajo proverb.

Brett

Will you EVER have anything else to say??

Although probably covered with pock marks, it's still a waste of skin.
