There's a report on Yahoo titled, "Oil Rises; U.S. Stocks Near Record Low. The reports states that the U.S. is currently 13 million barrels lower than at the end of 1997 and within eight million barrels of the end of 1996, at which time the U.S. crude stocks were at an all-time low. A quote from the report: "Some analysts, however, believe the U.S. stock draw may have been accelerated by end-of-year oil purchases further down the supply chain to cover millennium bug disruptions."
