Boston Globe..asked me for an interview.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Rollover/Back-Up Forum : One Thread

Can anyone tell me what kind of readership the Boston Globe has & the type of coverage they would be likely to give when describing events during Rollover ?Are they a major newspaper ? A daily or weekly ?

Many thanks.

Lots of readers. Not sure about how they will cover you. They are a broadsheet type of paper. Main paper for Boston, Mass. Probably fairly "just-the-facts" for rollover coverage. Hope this helps.

This is one of the most left-wing newspapers in the United States. They have flacked for the Kennedy family for decades.

They have a large readership in the three million people plus Boston metro area.

They are almost certainly pollies who would love nothing better than to profile kooky survivalists in the most sarcastic snooty possible way.

If you have prepared for more than a three day storm then stay away from these creeps.

The Globe is widely read throughout New England, and has been more upfront than most papers about Y2k. It was, in fact, where I read my first Y2k story back in summer of 1998. They would not be likely to distort any facts you may provide in an interview.

I would call it a major paper and it is published daily.

Boston Globe is owned by the New York Times company. Major paper.

What quick replies! Many thanks.I think they picked me out from the UK list of Zone 2000 participants.(the JR Whipple Rollover Site)

I'll try to come over as a "prudent" wife rather than a suvivalist !! By the way, After all our biggest USA Dealer is in Boston & he is a DGI.

Boston is unusual in having two major local newspapers, the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald. The Globe is the very liberal of the two. I don't follow it every day, but there have been some very good guest columns on y2k, altho I'm more cautious about the ability of the Globe reporters to do a good job on this subject. Do let us know if it comes about.
