Jammer just picked up two hacker hits in the last few minutes. Who do I notify and how?

If you left click on the Jammer icon on your task bar it will give you the option to view the text document that records all IP addresses of hackers.

You can start by doing a WHOIS on the IP, and then notifying the maintainer of that bloack of IP addresses. You can search the web for a WHOIS directory, and there are several places to enter the IP address in and they will give you the general statistics and contact information for the block maintainer.

However, it may or may not be anything to be alarmed about. IP port scanning is very common and some software programs run hundreds and thousands of IP addresses in an hour or som looking for active ports.

You may or may not be the object of someone's unique interest. But feel free to report the would be hacker becuase it is a free world after all. I'm just saying that one day I got scanned by someone in Stockholm, Sweden. I very much doubt anyone in Sweden was taking a unique interest in little old me, so I just let it go.

I would continue monitoring the Jammer record and if that particular IP address keeps trying to find a way into your system then I'd report the wanna be hacker to the block maintaner, and then stiffen your security by closing as many ports as possible.

Keep an eye on your NetBios, SMTP, FTP, and Telnet ports. They are frequently used in trying to crack a remote system.

Keep an eye on that Jammer too. Oh, and by the way if I were you I'd install Mcafee virus detector on your system, like yesterday. And then peruse the internet for updated versions of jammer-like software. I like FireEyes for listening to my open ports, and Jammer for monitoring Back Orifice attacks. They update this stuff pretty frequently, and for a minimum fee you cab get the good stuff. But if you don't want to shell out any money then just keep rotating the shareware programs every thirty days or so. They aren't as up to date, but they still work pretty well for mundane hack attacks.

Hope that helps.

Got a link to Jammer site? I've heard of it, & I want more info. Sounds like something we could all use, no?
