On Dec 19th a main frame of MCI went down. They tried to replace it and had problems. It is still down. Tried to post this earlier but AOL upgraded my machine and since then I get timed out when tring to post or answer a question 90% of the time.My wife works for them and was at work when it happened.

If you are in Virginia and part of the real MCI, I am not surprised. This company is one of the most technically incompetent and politically stratified that I have ever seen. It is one of the original success stories and has one-time secretaries at high management levels because of seniority. If you have any reliance on them for anything other than long-distance, I would worry (i.e. paycheck). Since WorldCom took over they have gotten even worse and more incompetent as well as being outright dishonest. They discontinued Friends and Family after 10 years and never told us. I received a $600 LD bill. When I investigated, I found that I was charged $.385/min plus $2.49 surcharge for each call since I no longer had a calling plan. When I called and objected they said, we discontinued the Friends and Famliy and you can now get all you want at .09/min all the time. So I signed up and didn't have to pay the $600 bill. However, I found out that when I used my calling card to call from NYC NY to Austin, Tx that it cost $.45/min if it wasn't to call home.....funny that sounds just like friends and family.

When we missed paying our bill by 15 days, they cut off our service since we didn't want to pay over the phone and we told them the check was in the mail. I said, fine you are done, we ar now on ATT.
