seeking verification of statement

A Neil G Lewis states that "local FEMA" advised apparently through the DALLAS MORNING NEWS, that suggestions are being made to prepare for two weeks to a month. This stands way out ahead of the "dire" increased warnings being given to the Wash D C area of 10 days. I feel if this can be substantiated, it would be quite newsworthy. I checked the DALLAS MORNING NEWS site on the web and found only a mention of 1 week. I do not in any way want to offend anyone, but I certainly think a statement such as has been made, should have a source of confirmation available. If true, it needs to be amplified. If not, well...? (I read this from a thread under "Media coverage"

r.l.: I think I still have the Sunday paper. Let me dig it out and I'll try and give you the specific column. Give the old man a few minutes!

r.l.: You are entirely correct. I stand admonished. I surveyed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and found a lot of articles on Y2K but none purported what I said. I apologize. If you going to open your yap you should have the sources to back it up! Allow me to be more circumspect in the future. As an aside, my wife and I are retired and probably spend 6 to 8 hours a day reviewing events from newspapers, tv, radio and of course the net. At my age it is easy to mix and match (but never my wife). Just one question: the one article in the Sunday paper referred to an emergency preparedness office. Is that part of FEMA or is it a state agency?
