What goes on in 3rd World?greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
Does anyone know of web sites covering third world countries? I don't have a TV and I've been unable to find much of any CURRENT information on 3rd world problems (utilities, etc.) in the internet mass media coverage of the rollover. I already know about http://www.iy2kcc.org/ - it is not up to date.

Rodrigo,Thanks for the information. I met a couple of the Y2K coordinators from Chile when the attended the United Nations Y2K Summit last December. I was very impressed with their knowledge and dedication.
Do you have any information about the other countries in South America? Especially Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela....
Thanks -- and happy New Year!
Ed
P.S. My wife lived in Valparaiso for three years as a young child, and my brother-in-law was born there. It's a beautiful area...

Thanks Rodrigo, glad everything's ok there for now. I've been to Santiago though, and it's hardly third world country territory.

Happy New Year from Chile: I don't know about the other countries but i can tell after almost two hours in the new millenium all the major cities here are 100% operative. Is like any other new year. I must admit i'm a little bit impressed :-) Valparaiso had a big fire work and live shows. TV said it was about a million people there. Party everywhere and fireworks everywhere. I'm at home now, kids sleeping and some relatives are still here. Best wishes to all and i'll keep tracking y2k tomorrow.
