A millenium premee baby in Alaska

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Delivered the first millenium baby at Providence Alaska Medical Center - 31 wks, preterm premature rupture of membranes and placental abruption; had external fetal monitoring, epidural, oxytocin, weighed 1640 gm (3lb9oz), good gases at birth, neonatal intubation for RDS (expected); mother doing well, baby's O2 settings being tapered.

No Y2k problems so far (whew!).

And on Monday, we'll see if the Acuson Aspen and XP 120 ultrasound machines in the office will function correctly (for $50,000 worth of software Y2k upgrades, they'd better...)

God bless the baby. Hope life is good. I read that 20 medical devices had problems--there's a list somewhere (FDA?).
