VA disability Comp. absent....probably too early to worry....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I just did my bimonthly auto telephone bank account check up. My husband gets an automatic deposit for his military retirement, and a second smaller deposit for a Veteran's Disability. Both sums are to be paid on the first. Normally, if the 1st of the month falls on a weekend, the retirement is paid on the Friday before. I cannot say if that is the case for the VA sum. However, when I did my accounting exercise just now (Jan 2) the retirement had been deposited, but not the VA sum. It will probably come in tomorrow. I would have to find the May statement to see what they did on that weekend. Does anyone else get a VA payment? And do you know what their policy is for weekend First of the Month? Thanks.

Mary, I also did the same checking, and got the reverse situation. The VA direct deposit is in our account -- the retirement is NOT. This is not the normal situation, as the retirement deposit has thus far always been the first to arrive, usually one day prior to the VA deposit. I'll be checking the accounts again tomorrow, when both should definitely be credited. If not, then my concern level will begin to rise.

AHA. (thanks Wilfred). My father's federal retirement check was supposed to be in their account too. It's AWOL. His State retirement check arrived however.

Fed two-step coming up on Monday. Hope it doesn't turn into a line- dance. Mello 1's father recieved his by mail.

I just finished checking my account, at 11:45 pm CST:

Federal (.mil) retirement in, and it's correct too!

Little Brother said that his V.A. disability and his .mil retirement deposits are both in his account.

All transactions are direct deposit BTW.

FWIW: The deposits were as of 31 DEC 1999, which of course means that we had the money available to us, (technically), and therefore it is taxable income for 1999, not as income for 2000.

Ah well, at least it was there! Better a partial loaf than none at all.

I hope that your checks come through too.

My husbands' VA disability payment was deposited through direct deposit into our account on Dec.30,1999. But watch out for the automated phone check; I've had the machine inform me I had more money than I knew I had, and then two days later inform me I had much less than should have been in the account. Maybe the automated bank system is the problem. It might be worth checking! Good Luck.

Ok...everything is fine. The VA thing does not list on the inital voice recording...but shows up on the computer, as per the human clerk, and if you push the option for "last five deposits" then the computer mentions the VA deposit. Those of you that think you may be missing something might check the additional options.

My Dad's deposit arrived today as well! One less thing to investigate.
