NASDAQ board not working?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

CNBC yammermouth was babbling something about both sites being down due to "the glitch", they'd better get their act together? (or something like that -- I was listening out the corner of my ear, it was over by the time I turned to look...)

NASDAQ info on their site indicates that they do not intend to post data changes '...through January 3...' They just don't want anyone interpretting great gains or losses as results of any non-Y2K-related glitch.

No, the guy was talking about something at the exchange not working right, something due to a y2k problem, something not anticipated. I gathered that much, but missed the details.

RSAllen,

"they do not intend to post data changes '...through January 3.."

This is something totally different. This is not about live market transactions.

Thanks, Hamster. I see that now after spending a bit more time at the site.

We may be witness to a huge reversal in the markets today. At the opening the Nasdaq was up around 3% while the S&P500 was struggling to keep its head in positive territory.

At this time (9:55 EST) the Nasdaq is up about 1 1/3% and the S&P500 is in negative territory. The Dow Jones Utilities are down a whopping 1 1/4%.

For most of the brief session there have been more losing than winning stocks on the NYSE. The Nasdaq initially had a 2 to 1 ratio of winners to losers but that is being pared rapidly.

Should be an interesting day!!

Ron

Saw and heard that too. Before it could register he was gone. Said 2 were down and if that anyone at NASDAQ was listening, to fix it. It was never mentioned again. I wasn't even sure what the 2 out of 3 things were, which isn't surprising seeing as how I'm NASDAQ illiterate.
