So, who's gonna "slip out the back, Jack?"

To All,

Serious question here; I'd really like to see some truthful responses to this. If you feel uncomfortable using your regular handle, create an alternate one to provide accurate info.

Who stayed in a bad relationship this year for security purposes during potential Y2K-related difficulties? The "I'll go with the known during the unknown" logic?

If things turn out better(or your significant other gets worse), who's headed to the courthouse(or if things get really rough, the weapons locker) to end the following:

"Well, at least I know what to expect from him/her during a time of crisis; no telling what I'll end up with if I get involved in a new relationship before the rollover!"

Just curious,

Actually, I got out of a bad relationship faster that I would have..... I didn't want to go through the stress of y2k with someone that didn't have the values I have....(besides, he was a polly)....

I worked for a multi-national company that lost ALL of their experienced programming staff in 1999 and the top four IT professionals! TPTB above them did not take the Y2K bug seriously until September and then it was a low priority. Very much too little, too late! I saw major JoAnne effect problems trying to make any projections into this year.

My wife is a gem, and I'd give away all my preps in a second if that's what it took to keep her with me. But I don't need to, because she caught on to Y2k real quick, and the two of us have busted our butts to get our community on track.

New relationship? You gotta be kidding.

I have to admit that I have stayed in a bad relationship for the security reason. If Y2K stays as a nonevent through the next month or so, I am on my way to the courthouse.

Who put off getting pregnant in the last two years due to not knowing what would happen?

HEY!!!

I am making a prediction that there will be a mini-baby boom in September and November!!!

Ms. Kook is GI all de way, a real gem. We've been gettin' ready for troubles for a while, B4 Y2K was known to us.

If there are no troubles, no sweat. Iffn there is, we're sittin' pretty. Either way, win win win.

Gotta go, 'lil Kook is callin' me...

Cherri,

GOOD ONE about pregnancy! I personally invested in about 300 condoms as a potential trade item. I figured that ITSHTF, women might not want to be getting pregnant/delivering a baby with a possible lack of medical facilities/materials.

They keep for several years; there still may be a use for them...

Headcase,

Blow them up and make a Y2K bouquet using your preps.

All those condoms can be donated to your local high school. They are greatly needed for sex education classes, and for students who wish to practice safe sex. Not bartering preps will go to waste, someone somewhere can use them. Matches, here, come get your matches.

just got dumped after a long term relationship. SO found "true soulmate" on the internet. go figure. now all i hear is that that our relationship has been bad for many yrs. ????. hmmm... this a new tune from the one i had been hearing. put up with alotta crap for a long time ( little or no sex , angry tirades, social starvation, financial hardship), but i stayed in it because of love and obligation. it's rough letting go after nearly 15 yrs. feel angry, hurt, used, hornly (horny and lonely). was obsessed by thoughts of revenge, now i feel that the best revenge is that the new "love interest" is gonna be stuck with my former SO (at least till SO sheds the fake charm). lotta cleanup to do as far as disposition of property and feelings of betrayal. SO is still in the house (note i did not say home). this makes it real hard to put closure to this fiasco.

what? no more posts?? i'd like to know if there are more situations like mine.

After 25 years, including bouts with Welfare, Paramedic classes at the same time as both of us were working 40+ hours a week, Hypoglycemic induced depression (almost committed her about 7 years ago), misc illnesses, near bankruptcy, etc., our preps are the LEAST of our problems, particularly as she keeps pushing me outside the box. Every time I get to a point that I think I might be about to scare her she scares ME by being VERY far ahead.

Of course we determined before we were married that we were REAL compatible and have been equally yoked since long before the wedding. (we defined compatibilituy as she knowing which tool I was looking for while building a bed before I knew which tool I was after. We have recently redefined compatibility as being able to stack wood on the same cord stack. try it sometime. If you don't end up in a fight......)
