LS-1000 vs. 2000 vs. LS-30

I'm in the market for a slide scanner for my personal use. Refurbished LS-1000s are available now. Would I be wise to buy one instead of a new LS-30? Or would I be better served by waiting until refurbished LS-2000s are available? (I haven't located any reviews of the 1000s.) Thanks! Harvey

If your choice is between the ls30 and ls1000, it depends on how important digital ice is. I find that a shot of dust off gets rid o most of my dust, so that is not a great deal at this point. What is more important for me is shadow detail. There is a huge difference between a dmax of 3.0 and 3.6 where shadows are concerned. You can even multi-sample with an ls 1000 if you use ed hamrick's scanner software $40 at www.hamrick.com You could also look at minlolta's scanners, both the scanspeed and the elite.
