10 yr old TMax develop question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

About 10 years ago I exposed a roll of T-Max 100 at ASA400. I would like to develope it but have been away from the darkroom for about the same lenght of time. Can anyone help with current developer info and advice on developement times, stop bath and fixers? I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Dan

About a year ago I found a roll of Tri-X in a can. I had a lab in NY - Modernage - process it normally - I discovered it was a roll I had shot 28 years ago - the negatives were more than adequate - as a matter of fact two prints from the roll are in my personal portfolio - my suggestion is to process normally and hope for the best. Good luck.

In this case I believe I would buy some T-Max developer and use the time that Kodak recommends for TMX a EI 400. I haven't used T-Max developer in a long time, but I had excellent results in the past using the times recommended on the bottle. The other possibility would be X-tol--the Kodak site has extensive information on development times for all the major films. I would recommend a water rinse after development, followed by a standard stop bath and rapid fix.
