Old Polyfiber- did people like it?

Hi. I have a box of Kodak Polyfiber that seems to be in good condition. Does anyone know if it's considered better, worse, or the same as the papers that came after? Any idea why Kodak discontinued it? (at least I think they did...)

I bought a box once and was very pleased with it--neutral to cold tone with excellent contrast and gradation, and it toned very nicely in selenium. I seem to recall that it cost more than other multigrade papers. I took a look at Kodak's site--now they have a product called Polymax Fiber, which I suspect is very similar.

Thanks Ed. The paper seems to be absolutely neutral, in fact the midtones might be described as official battleship gray. I may try to warm it up or cool it down with different developers, as it's kinda uninteresting as is. Nice double weight base, though. CH

I really like Polyfiber too. I know they discontinued the G surface, but I have not heard of the entire line being dropped. My two favorite surfaces was F and G. The G surface was in between matte and glossy and had a warm tone - idea for historic sites (Bodie, old mills), portraits and nudes. Ektalure (fixed 2.5 grade) is the only paper now in G surface.
