Latest OPIS alert:

2000-01-14 10:58:24 EST ***BP-AMOCO YORKTOWN REFINERY GLITCH, MOTIVA DELAWARE CRUDE UNIT STILL IDLE Virginia based jobbers tell OPIS that BP Amoco's 62,000 b/d Yorktown refinery has experienced a "mechanical problem" forcing the refiner to suspend rack sales of both high and low sulfur distillate until further notice. One jobber said he was sent a fax from the Yorktown terminal informing him of the product outage.

Meanwhile, New York Harbor spot sources say that crude unit problems still continue at Motiva's 160,000 b/d Delaware City refinery with no sight of a possible restart until early next week.

What and where is OPIS?

Feb. crude hit 27.45 today and gasoline was almost to .74. I believe these are about the highest prices we have seen since the Gulf war. That is unusual for such a warm winter.

OPISS=What oil market shorts are saying right now.

Danny,

Your oil price data is a little dated. Feb crude settled at $28, today after trading even higher than that for a few ticks. The Feb gasoline settled at 74.52 up 3.5 cents. Twas a moonshot.

Hey downstreamer,

Did I do the right thing holding on to my 112 calls :o)

Actually, 50 will expire worthless. [febs]

The rest are March and Aprils. I'm convinced oil will continue to rise, I just don't know if it will be quick enough to cash in...

It may well be a 2nd qtr. jobbie... maybe around April/May...
