Add and vary ingredients to suit your neighbors' tastes....

Mix all ingredients in several clawfoot style porcelain- lined cast iron bathtubs (see local salvage yards for avail- ability). Several 55 gallon drums may be used if they are steam scoured clean for 20 minutes.

Bathtub (or drums) should be mounted on cinder blocks to a clear bottom height of 24 to 26 inches.

Pile firewood evenly under and around bathtub. Best results are obtained using hardwoods; softwoods tend to soot up the batch during cooking. Light woodpile in several places to ensure even distribution of flames. Ensure cooking site is well away from stockpiled fuels. Firewatch is advisable.

Stir contents occasionally with a sanitized boat oar or 2 X 4.

When goulash is steaming, extinguish fire. Let neighborhood form a line (children first, you know) and dish it out lavishly! Extending invitation to neighbors' pet canines is also recommended.

Repeat this random act of kindness regularly, until you can successfully navigate through the back half of your house again.

Thanks, FM. I'm not very good at this 'puter stuff yet. Kids keep teaching trying to teach me new stuff, but you know how hard it is to teach old dogs :)

-- justme (justme@myhouse.com), January 14, 2000.

Oh, sweet thing, not to worry.

'Learning a few "puter" things myself. LOL!

(If I knew all there was to know, I'd be "cpr" over at the "Debunky Board!")

Then again...maybe not.

The last time I checked, (as in TONIGHT) cpr's Web site hadn't been updated in some considerable time. Maybe just an oversight, but one cannot help but notice the following:

cpr (a.k.a. Charles Reuben) is offering THIS as his "home page" on 01/14/2000:

http://home.swbell.net/buytexas/y2k3link.htm

Go figure.

:)

-- FM (vidprof@aol.com), January 15, 2000.

Hmm, I recommend deboning the Sweet Sue chicken before adding it. I think the dish needs some spicing as well. I recommend ten pounds of dried onions, 8 ounces of vacuum packed crushed red pepper, two bottles of Lea & Perrins Worchestershire sauce (the real thing only, please)and two ounces of dried, vacuum packed crushed basil. Bring the mixture to a simmer only. Remember, a soup that's boiled is a soup that's spoiled.

Bon appetit!

And for dessert...dried apricots, dried apples, dried peaches, dried pears.... All washed down with reconstituted, non-fat, instant milk.

Laxatives? I thought that's what the oatmeal was for! At least that's what my Scots-Irish mother says:o)
