Extreme Power Self Sufficiency

Some people take these things to the extreme! You've got to check out this website if you get the chance: http://www.ctaz.com/~wmbjk/index.htm

This project doesn't appear to be for the faint of heart, or anyone (like me) that has kids, but wow - what a concept. While my interest is more in augmenting my puny home setup (Y2K inspired), there's certainly some learning I can get from people like this who have actually gone the extra mile - or the extra 35, in their case.

Greg, thanks for posting this--WOW!

I have to admit that I don't understand why these folks decided to settle in a spot that required such an incredibly large investment. I guess they must be a lot more interested in a lot more privacy than most people, not to mention being independently wealthy.

Personally, I like being able to heat with wood that grows on the property, drink LOW mineral water, and have lots of it.

I also like the convenience of being only ten (paved) miles from town, and having neighbors withing a quarter mile in two directions.

But I've gotta give these folks credit for having a lot of drive and ability. Wow.
