Can you ever bend over again like to pick something up off the floor after you have had the hip replacement done?

According to my orthopedist, you can bend down to pick up objects after a recovery time of 12 weeks. However, you must be very careful. The main reason for my having the hip replacement on 1/17/2000 was because of the intense pain and unable to walk without assistance. After two weeks, the pain is 1/10 of what it was.
