Sitting around the Cyberfire at TB 2000, Fire Animation

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Here is something I have been thinking of trying. At the local cable service they broadcast a fire burning on the tube. Well the s**t hit the fan when they took it off the air. It managed to make it into the news and I thought that maybe the net should have campfires, fireplaces. Haven't got around to making a fire place but here is a campfire to keep you cyberwarm during the cold winter months.

The one above is just a smaller version of the link below.

A warm looking fire

But the original is over 400 k so I thought that would be a bit much here. But the effect is nice and it is set up so if the window is minimized then a person could have a fire burning in the corner while checking out the net.

Hope you like it :o)

Oh and as it is a gif file you may need to reload it if it doesn't come up.

Thanks, Brian! If I hold my hands up to the monitor, I can almost feel my fingers get warm. So who says we are toast?

thanks Brian! sure feels cozy here on such a cold morning! it`s about time we had a campfire here anyway, the `hot dogs` have been hanging around here for awhile now! LOL

Very sweet, reminds me of the warm friendships here, and we know that we can count on Dee to bring the hot chocolate! ('tho ya probably pissed off the OT guy)

Thanks, Bri

Thanks Brian! Great idea. Wonder if Phil could make this come up for all OTs? I've got the marshmallows!

Thanks Brian! Now I have a fire in my office to go with the one in the living room and the one in the kitchen (which will be producing breakfast in about 20 minutes). Darn cold here this morning, but the house is toasty (freedom from the power company is bliss). We just came back from the barn to check on our first doe to 'kid'. Nothing yet, but our son is surely hoping for a new arrival as today is his 10th birthday! He stumbled downstairs half asleep the other morning exclaiming, "Ummmm, there's nothing like the smell of burning wood first thing in the morning". LOL

Well since we are all sitting around the campfire, could anyone tell us some sacry y2k stories?

Any of you remember "smores?" It's a gooey scout thing. Chocolate bars, grahamn crakers and toasted marshmellows. I always flamed mine.

Marshmellows that is.

Thanks Brian!

I like it Brian, I bet you've seen Quest For Fire... love that Canadian movie, especially the scenes from Cathedral Grove...right? :)
