has anyone heard how they are going to take lucy off the show? i heard that they were going to keep it quiet. but then i just heard that she will be killed off!!!!!!!!!! which one is true????

As quoted on the IMDB: Kellie Martin will be exiting E.R. in a blaze of gory next month, when her character, medical student Lucy Knight is shot and killed by a crazed gunman, the New York Post reported today (Tuesday), citing an unnamed insider. "It's pretty brutal," the source said. "There's a scene in which Lucy and Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) are shot. It's pretty bloody. She dies in his arms but he survives." Martin had announced last month that she was leaving E.R.

Who knows if it's true, but we'll all see soon enough.

I have heard that she is getting stabbed to death. There is another rumor I read that she gets shot and dies. There is another rumor about an accident of some sory that she is involved with that results in her lapsing into an irreverisble coma which results in her death over a two episode period. Take your pick. Who knows, maybe this is the episode where Jerry returns. Valentine's Day turns out to be slppery and Jerry takes the mud mats from the cafeteria to place by the front door so no one slips and falls. Carter and Lucy go to the cafeteria to get a bite to eat. While carrying their trays to the table both slip and fall. Both are stabbed by their eating utensils. Carter gets stabbed in the hand by his knife. Lucy ends up with a fork sticking out of her chest. Lucy bleeds out in front of the salad bar as Carter and a few nurses look on in shock. None of us are going to know for sure what is going to happen. Maybe TPTB put out a lot of false rumors to throw everyone off. By the 10th we should have a pretty good idea..

I heard that Lucy and Carter will get shot and that while Carter will survive, Lucy will die in his arms. This episode will air sometime in March. I got this information from this source, who knows what will really happen:

The producers don't seem to like her character, Lucy Knight, all that much, either. Is this THE thing that will change ER forever that they are announcing??? I mean, okay, so we all like Lucy, I love Lucy, you love Lucy.... but it's not like her dying will REALLY change stuff... Now, if Carol died, THEN I would understand all the suspense.

After watching "Abby Road" I watched the previews for next week and they called the eppy, the one they've been telling us about. I read on Adam's ER Page that it's called "Be Still my Heart" I believe that this is the eppy that Lucy gets shot in. I also believe it's a two part eppy and the following one is called "All in the Family". I know Lucy gets shot in the Feb. sweeps. It makes more sense that the eppy would be aired during rating sweeps.

I had a hunch they were about to kill Lucy off so I went hunting, and I too have found several articles that seem to confirm that she will be shot and killed. One of the articles said it would happen in March, but like someone else said, hey, if you're gonna do it, do it during sweeps. And there is that "big episode" coming up next week. . . My "hunch" was based on a few things: why was KM's departure announced so late in the game, as opposed to JM's and GR's? What was the point of Lucy's "At the end of the day, I'm just glad I'm walking in here" speech, which, for some reason I can't quite pin down, just seemed really odd to me? And finally, what could "a turning point in the ER" be except the death of a cast member? I agree that the previews certainly overdramatize everything lately, but, like someone else pointed out, Lucy's death as a "turning point" is, in and of itself, and overdramatization.

Well, killing off Lucy is pretty sensationalistic if you ask me. It would have made more sense to let her leave at the end of the season. She's supposed to graduate at that time, isn't she?

As a character I was never fond of "Puppy Girl" (I dubbed her thus because she tended to follow Carter, Benton, et al like a cute annoying puppy, and for her large expressive eyes.) but I think having her shot is a little much. It smacks of ratings-grabbing. Lucy had potential but she was handled unevenly last season and has been crowded out of this one by the stampede of entrances and exits. I just hope they can handle a good Carter Post-traumatic stress storyline in the aftermath of the (possible) death scene.

"Sweeps" are the rating periods in the months of Feb., May and Nov. when advertising prices are set. Networks tend to put episodes of shows and specials on during these times in order to attract the highest possible number of viewers. Higher viewer numbers= higher prices for advertizers to pay during those shows for season. Unfortunately, these episodes are not always the season's best, but tend to be dramatically advertized in order to pull viewers in. The best part of sweeps periods is that at least you don't tend to see reruns.

Hi, In the Sunday edition of the Detroit news it states that Kelli Martin will be killed off & her last airdate will be February 17. Which falls right into this change ER forever advertising they are doing. Although I don't see how it will change forever.

Okay, now we all know how Lucy is going to die after tonights episode, but what obviously this can't be what is going to change ER forever. How many people agree with me that we were jipped into watching the first 55 minutes of this show tonight? (2-10-00)It was a classic example of getting as many people to tune in as possible, and I fell for it, like always.

well i fell for it! Although since I didnt want to know about the " changing forever episode" i stayed away from er news, lol. It paid off I was totally shocked when John fell on the floor and there laid Lucy all helpless! I have never really liked her character. I did however jump out of my seat when John was stabbed!! I am glad I read no spoilers!!! So you ask why am i here now? well well well... I wanted to make sure it was LUCY that was going to die! hahahaha...

I'll admit, tonight's episode was overdramatized and that since Lucy Knight's character wasn't exactly crucial to the show her dying probably won't change the ER forever. However, any cast member dying is shocking and tragic (although I wouldn't miss some cast members too much if they were to go). As of now I'm still in shock, feeling nostalgic and sad that Lucy's going, and in such a sensational way, too. I only wish that her and John had had a chance to kindle something between them. It seemed so certain to happen last season, especially after their kiss, and I had hope that it would happen this season. This might sound weird, but I really liked the end. NOT that they were stabbed, but that the producers/writers/directors did such a phenomonal job at making it so creepy. I'll miss Lucy. (Now my nostalgia's coming back and I'm feeling really sad.)

I agree I don't see how her dying esp since she has only been on the show for less than a year, will change the show forever, if Carter died i could understand-but I have heard nothing about him dying, or about Noah leaving the show. (i hope he does not die, he is my favorite charactar) maybe if Lucy does die, then maybe Carter will have something happen like stop practicing medicine or feel all retrosprective, guilty etc,, and think of giving up medicine(not saying he will, but maybe for a while he'll think of it) but even that wouldnt' change it forever(unless he really does give up medicine)but even then, he'd have to leave the show--which doesn't seem to be likely, but who knows. Guess i'll just have to wait and see. :)
