That was a game worthy of the Grey Cup!

And Steve McNair may be another Dougie in the making. Maybe. Sure runs like Dougie but he can't go down field (with the pass) like him. He did everything to put them over that goal line except block Mike Jones.

Definitely one of the best, if not THE best Super Bowls ever. Gotta feel bad for the Titans, but I'm very happy for the Rams and their long-suffering fans in St. Louis.

Yeah but the REAL winners were the guys in the EDS ads because they did the whole thing with a straight face.

And how many people here predicted there would be no Super Bowl this year due to all the y2k related deaths?

-- Butt Nugget (catsbutt@umailme.com), January 31, 2000.

Is there any $$$ in cat herding???

Could be the most hilarious commercial ever. Haven't laughed that hard in a long time!

Nobody here predicted that.

-- (bart@grepmide.net), January 31, 2000.

Bart

Actually several here did predict that. It's buried in the archives somewhere. Not only was there to be no Super Bowl, but the New Years Bowl games were also predicted not to happen. Something about the stadiums needing to be used at temporary morgues.

Nobody made those predictions. They're not in any archives.

Bart

Hate to whizz in your Cornflakes but those predictions were definitely made on this forum by some of your 'brightest' minds.

I wouldn't want to have to admit to making foolish predictions like that either.

I'm just glad some terrorist didn't light up a 20K-ton firecracker during halftime.

Bart ole buddy, you wouldnt by chance work for Clintons defense team? You seem to have a serious case of selective amnesia. Anyway, as previously stated this has to be the greatest of all Super Bowls and both teams are to be congratulated for a fabulous second half. The commercials were entertaining as always but the game was better, for a change. For all of you that wonder how your life can be better I suggest you read-up on Mr. Kurt Warner. There is a valuable lesson for all of us regarding perseverance and the rewards for those who refuse to give up on their dream.

Bart -

Deano's correct - we had a big ol' discussion in TB2K about the New Year's football games. I remember someone pointing out that Deano's beloved Jags (moment of silence here... OK, back to posting) were in pretty good shape on January 2 'cause they'd (a) be home and safe in beautiful Jax and (b) be playing the truly awful Bengals.

I was definitely on the doomer end of the spectrum, so this is not a "told you so" post. Just wanted to set the record straight.

-- DeeEmBee (macbeth1@pacbell.net), January 31, 2000.

Were you one of those that made these predictions, Dee?

-- (bart@grepmide.net), January 31, 2000.

And I flat out looooved that EDS commercial. I got the ladies in my family (who wisely had fled to the malls during the game) to watch it when ABC replayed it during post-game. Told 'em: "THIS is what it's like to try to manage IT projects!!!"

"And just look at Ray's face there. I mean, it's ripped to shreds!" Been in a few meetings that felt like that...

-- DeeEmBee (macbeth1@pacbell.net), January 31, 2000.

Didn't predict setting up morgues in Pro Player Stadium, but certainly expressed serious concerns about games being impacted/cancelled and teams on travel possibly getting stuck in various parts of the country by infrastructure failures at Rollover. That "doomish" enough?

-- DeeEmBee (macbeth1@pacbell.net), January 31, 2000.

No, I'm referring to "Y2K related deaths"

-- (bart@grepmide.net), January 31, 2000.

It was the England Government that was relaying articles about turning stadiums into possible morgues. The official govt articles were posted, amongst 100s of other Y2K articles, on this Forum.

-- what (about@that.game), January 31, 2000.

You're stretching there.....agree that "morgues" were being planned by UK, not here.

I did expect problems with Atlanta being able to support the SuperBowl, but because of its probable failures, not because of the weather and (thus) inablility to support practices, parking, MARTA, and general driving to/from before the game.

BUT, there were failures in the the infrastructure of Atlanta prior to the game, but caused by Mr. K's "three-day storm" - so does that prove me right? Not really, most of the pre-game press coverage was negative anyway ... so let us just be glad there were no fatal or life-threatening injuries due to football ... the TN defensive back is recovering.

---...---...---

My choice for commercials?

Best = "herding cats..."

Worst? = That very confusing one about personalized email....don't we have enough spam already, without adding to it by some other product to write spam?

I loved that E*TRADE commercial with the dancing chimp.

"we just wasted $2 million dollars, what are you doing with your money?"
