OT - Bull Market?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

After todays close for the NYSE there were 13 new highs and 151 new lows.
Among the lows were at least four major airlines.
Not the investing environment I'd care to go long.

BearMarketIt's a bear market but most people don't realize it yet.

Good point, Guy! It's already here but everyone is still feeling the rush of riding the exuberant rise that they haven't noticed the slippage downward. The herd is too busy whooping it up and romping in the grass to notice the smell of danger wafting at the periphery.

Let say we have two stocks, A and B. Both sell for $100 per share and we have 100 shares total.

Now stock A is part of the WorldIndex and stock B is not. If multiple people trade these shares a few times and stock A iis now valued at $150 and stock B is now valued at $50, the WorldIndex will look good, but the overall market will be mediocre.

If you noticed, the Russell 2000 was down, the S&P midcap was down. Some of that money must be heading into the Dow and S&P Top 50.
