Doug and Carol...

Okay, so this is what I've heard:

George Clooney said he would come back to help with Carol's exit, but that might take away all of the emotional impact of her exit. I also heard that he was coming back (via a J.M. interview which my Aunt saw on tv.) Does anyone know what the absolute truth is about this situation?

The absolute, final truth on the matter is that we'll find out when we find out -- in other words, in the absence of an affirmative statement from any party involved, the only thing anyone not connected to the show can do is wait.

There have been a variety of answers, but the most recent one showed up in the paper a couple of weeks ago. George Clooney said he didn't think it fair to come back and scoop her up for a segment. Unfortunately, this one is probably the most reliable.):

From what I can gather, George Clooney would welcome a guest appearance, though he doesn't want it to be in an unrealistic way. Julianna Margulies, as well, has stated in countless interviews that she thinks it would be a wonderful way to write Carol off, for them to bring the Doug Ross character back.

John Wells refuses to comment on the issue, and has said that either way, he will make sure it is kept a secret.
