What kind of parent do you see yourself to being?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Miss Nostalgia Feedback : One Thread

Most of us are reaching the age where the thought of being a parent is a plausable reality. I, personally, am not going to have kids for a long while yet but I'm still thinking about the type of parent that I'm going to be. Am I going to raise my kids the same way my parents raised me? Am I going to let them watch tv? Am I going to take them to church? Am I going to force them into piano lessons? What kind of parent do you think you're going to be?

im going to be a good mommy, well hope so. im not going to raise my kids like my parents. in my opinion they didnt spend enough time with me when i was young (they were always working) they never read me stories nor made me read and stuff like that. im not going to let them watch much t.v either. i hate little kids who sit in front of the t.v all day.

me and calvy are going to be wonderful parents. hehehe

louise and i talked about this last night... we were saying that we want kids who are going to be exactly like us, meaning... parties, drinking, having fun with their lives, not holding back. we said with our luck we'd have kids who are the exact opposite. we'll be bugging them to go out and do something.

i find the whole thought amusing. i think i'll be a terrible parent, by normal standards.

Kids scare the living hell out of me. I'm probablly going to be a pretty open parent, and i'm not going to hold back too much, like bringing my kids to punk shows and stuff like that. I'll probablly encourage them to play music, and i donno, they'll probablly end up all fucked up and weird like me, but hey, the more the merrier.

I think I'm going to be dreadful. I dunno. I am completely inconstant and I let things slide. The wife'll probably come home and yell at me for not changing the diapers and I'll go and check and realize that my baby's rear end smells like a sewer. Yeah, that sounds about right. Anyway, I just hope I'm not as awful as my dad is. He's a nice PERSON; he's just not a good DAD. Yeah, that sounds about right too. I'm doomed to failure. *grin*
