Grading of Test

greenspun.com : LUSENET : UR General Chemistry : One Thread

I just saw my test, and was surpirised to see why there was no partial credit given on parts of questions? Why is this? If i made a minute mistake on a question, but demonstrated sembalnce of reason, why should i be penalized so extremely? I would think that Prof Schroeder of all people would agree that reasoning is more important than small mistakes in mathematical execution.

How did you get a chance to view your test?

I am not sure which exam you took or which question you are discussing but some exam questions were so simple that if you did not do the correct steps, there was no partial credit to be given. Three of the questions involved two steps, multiply by the MW and then multiply by the dH. If a student attempted to use all sorts of equations that were not necessary no credit was given. I make these comments not knowing exactly what you are referring to.
