Anyone remembering Benton's student?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

As much as the episode last night chilled me (the looks, the background music, the lighting--everything) I couldn't help but remember old Dennis, Benton's former intern who killed himself by jumping on to the train tracks after Benton's mistreatment and feel like it was deja vu. I know Lucy didn't kill herself and I know that Carter didn't mistreat her nearly to the scale that Benton mistreated Dennis but I wonder if Carter will have to deal with the same guilt if Lucy dies after the way he treated her all day.

I thought the same thing. I also recalled Green getting beat-up in the bathroom.

I think Carter will take a long, long time to get over this.

I got the same feeling when NBC announced that this was an episode that "everybody will be talking about". That was one of the most memorable ER episodes to me and they also made the same announcement. I also had a feeling that something was going to happen to Lucy and I saw the way Carter treated her. It reminded me of Benton and Gant, but on a much smaller scale. Carter, being as good-natured as he is, will be affected than Benton was at that time.

I, too, was thinking of the situation with Gant. Also, when Doug found Mark in the bathroom. It also made me think back to Carol being brought in after her suicide attempt...just how protective Mark was, how upset Susan and Doug were. It will be interesting to see the reactions of the others next week!!
