Jellyfish Absolution readers, will you tell me who you are?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nayad : One Thread

I'm deeply curious about the people who read my journal. I'd love it if you'd write a bit about who you are, what you do, how you found the site, and your interests. Any description will do, though!

I found about the site from diarist.net... I go to school here in Madison and one day I was very bored and perused to see what my fellow Mad City Schmoops were up to. Most of the links were to old, or rather bizarro sites. At first it was the eye candy that drew me in - nice design and layout - then what was actually being written and said was very interesting. I've actually sent the link to a few close friends of mine, and they've seemed to like it as well, although they are not jellyfish list people yet =)

I read your journal because you're cool! (And I like procrastinating at work like I'm doing right now.) You know a lot about me since we met at Karawynn's on your trip out to Seattle. Here is a quick(?) bio of me...

I'm single, 28 years old, 6 foot 6 inches tall, with long blondish brown hair. I majored in French horn performance at Boston University, but I work as a computer programmer (Perl) at GreaterGood.com now. I still play French horn with a brass quintet and an orchestra. I started playing Ultimate frisbee last summer ('99) and I'm definitely addicted to it now. It keeps me from wasting away sitting in front of a computer all the time. I love to read Sci-Fi and Fantasy novels, play computer games like StarCraft, board games like Settlers of Catan, and card games of all sorts. I enjoy giving backrubs/massages, although I don't have any official training. I'm mentioned in Ann's cast list on the jellyfish site. My outlook on life is very positive, and my ego is generally difficult to squash. I'm rather sarcastic much of the time. I love movies, mainly comedies and romantic comedies, but drama, action, and adventure are also cool. I listen to everything from Mozart to Metallica, although mostly alternative grunge stuff lately. People are fascinating and I expend a fair amount of effort trying to figure them out -- I especially like helping friends solve problems. =)

I'm Bob and I'm 38. Happily married with 3 year old daughter and 13 year old cat. Originally from Michigan now residing in Ohio as an advertising executive. I'm into anything "Jelly" related which is why I'm here. Spend my free time surfing the net and trying to snatch up "jelly" related items on E-Bay.

I read Anns journal because I am in a relationship with her and the journal is important to her and I like sharing in things that are important to her. I also like her writing and design.

I am on Anns cast list under the a.k.a. Worthy. I am 42-year-old health care professional. I grew up in a combination of suburban and farm life. I spent a lot of time with all variety of animals. Our farm was a horse-boarding farm with also cattle, fowl, dogs cats and the odd pet raccoon, opossum and crow etc. I developed a pretty significant work ethic in a very loving close family. I met my Babe (Bubbly in Anns journal) in high school and we have been together unmarried for 25 years. Twenty-two of those years or more we have been in a open to other loves relationship that we now identify as a polyamorous life style. My Babe is driven and intelligent. She has a science masters and is soon to be done with her MBA. She is an incredible woman.

I have been in a love relationship with sweet Ann for coming on two years. I know her extremely well and know her as an intelligent, thoughtful, loving, introspective, and aware person. For my perspective: My friend James is a bright, witty, logical, caring, fun guy who finds no need for extraneous talk or illogical behaviors in people.

I am unlike Ann, but like Bubbly, a very outdoorsy person. I enjoy golf, wilderness camping, biking, and hiking. I have spent a great part of my life on the water fishing but I am burned out on it now. When I became very, very good at it the challenge was gone and I felt bad for the fish (though I always let them go). I am an avid reader and usually have several books going at once. Mostly they are nonfiction books on history, philosophy, anthropology and sociology. I adore music and art (the best time of my life was at art museums in Paris) and movies but I am so eclectic in my interests in these things that description would go on forever. Im lately enjoying getting into dancing more. I identify as a closet nerd. I am a romantic. My sense of humor is based in irony, and bizarre presented by me in a dry and measured way, but I enjoy the truly outrageous and odd in entertainment (not Jerry Lewis or Jim Carey physical outrageous, but wild stretched to the limit thought).

I have eclectic interests, which leads me to have a large number of friends with varied interests. I am also an intimacy junky and take my intimate relationships very seriously. I carefully pick my true intimates. I spend a large amount of time enjoying my family and close friends on intimate levels. They all seem to enjoy the time too. I wish there were more days in the week!

I don't remember how I found Anns site, some sort of web ring or another. I didn't really know what her journal would be about, but obviously I like it because I've been reading it for about a year. I'm a 17 year old Junior, working as a swimming instructor part time so I can save up for a car. My intrests are very diverse. I like acting, writing, and painting. I'm also really interested in biology and plan to study that in college.

I don't remember how I found your site, I just surfed on in one day. I kept reading it because I like free spirited people with alternative life styles.

I'm a 25 yr old blond/blue bisexual married female. I'm a therapist for autistic preschoolers and I'm in college to get a bachlors in mental retardation and a K-12 teaching certificate. After that I plan to get my masters in autism. I live with my husband and 2 spoiled house cats.

Intrests: tai chi, sword fighting, horsebackriding, vegetarian and organic food, zen buddhism (I go to a temple) and reading about philosophy, science fiction, fantasy, mythology, and psycology. In high school I fought against being a nerd, but I have now accepted it as my fate.

Hmmmmmm, I amswered this once, and managed to lose it before I posted it. Let me recap.....

I am Ms. Enigmatic. I met Ann at a social party about two years ago (you avid journal readers will know the one). I said something to myself like, "That gal is too cute to ever want to talk to me." Hmph.

After becoming friends, I demanded the address to her website several times before I managed to keep track of it on my own. I tend to lose any type of information which is normally shared on tiny scraps of paper (no matter in what medium I receive them).

Contrary to popular belief, I rarely if ever spend time attempting to be enigmatic. It's not really a goal of mine. I am pretty sure, however, it's a direct result of some weird internal combination of spiritual consciouness and overt sensationalism.

As a matter of fact, who I am can be painfully obvious once you get over the title --- Ms. Enigmatic. I don't even try to hide it. *innocent blank look*

I suppose I should add a few background facts ---

I am a web developer with an outrageously large title with 18 syllables that really means I do whatever I can to bring about 100 people together to get the job done. And I do enjoy it. *wry grin* Personal website you say? That would be a lot of fun to develop, if I only had time......

My co-captain is Liam on Ann's site --- right, Ann?

Co-captain is our word for "partners" based on some strangely humorous joke about "sailing the ship of love". One can't be too serious about life mates, eh?

Also, Ann just informed me that I accessorize better than anyone she knows. Hmmm. The things one can do with a silk scarf....

20 year old from Atlanta, Georgia. Currently I'm enrolled at Clayton State College. I'm 5'10'' and weigh 170 pounds, not playing any sports right now but I wrestled in high school (it was the only sport where I didn't have to rely on a team). I like reading and writing, I'm majoring in creative writing right now. Some day I want to write a book which completely changes America, but I'd settle for a book which people read and enjoyed. I think I like writing because I LOVE arguing with people about philosophy, and you can do that with a lot of people at once through writing. :-)

I think that I found this site through "Alone in a Crowd", another online journal that I read. At least, I think that's how I stumbled upon Jellyfish. In any case, I love reading the latest entries and catching up on those that were posted before I began reading.

I am a first year sophomore at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and am majoring in Elemetary Education with minors in German and Business. Don't ask why, I have no idea!

Our school year is wrapping up . . . I only have one more day of classes and then the week after Easter is finals week! Yikes! Then I'm headed back home to Missoula, MT to work and go to summer school at the University of Montana. I can't wait to get back to the mountains! Yay!

I love reading this journal, as well as others. I know that many people think the internet is just a big waste of time, and that may be true in some cases. But I love the fact that it brings so many people together -- people that in "real life" would never meet. I think it is this interaction between individuals that fascinates me. I have so much admiration for those who are willing to put their lives on the 'net, it takes courage to bare yourself like that.

In fact, it is Jellyfish and other such journals that prompted me to start my own page . . . granted, it's pretty simple, but I'm just starting. Maybe someday people will read my page with the same interest and excitement that I read Jellyfish.

Thanks for the great page -- you always help me to look at the world differently and examine my own beliefs and opinions.
