what did Lucy say?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

A question that comes up sort of frequently here and I'm wondering, too, is what did Lucy tell Carter when they were on the floor. I'm kicking myself for not taping it so I can't tell, but can anyone who did tape it figure it out? It'd probably clear up some questions.

She didn't tell him anything...it was her expression that kind of made people think she was warning him to close his eyes and pretend he was dead because the guy was still in there, but I really don't know. Looks like if she had been in there for 4 hours like they are saying, then he(the attacker) would know she wasn't dead.

Hey some people were saying that Lucy was saying "play dead" did anyone else discover this?

Just watched the tape of the show early this morning and I did not see Lucy mouth or say anything to Carter. It seemed to me to be a lok of desperation.

She didn'y say anything and I am pretty sure she wasn't hinting at sayig anything either because if she had been their for four hours I think she would be to tierd to do anything. And she wouldn't be able to say anything either because the guy injected them with something that makes your voice musle's week.

No, Lucy said nothing. The look on her pale, white face spoke volumes. I was physically disturbed for about an hour after I saw the stabbing. The look on her face is (to me) what true horror must feel like.

I don't think the guy injected her with anything, I think he cut her throat and she is slowly bleeding out. She probably just closed her eyes because she is dying and is accepting the fact that she is dying. Other messages have hinted that Lucy is sitting up & fine in the previews of next week's show? I did not see that anywhere.

After I read this question I went and watched my tape again. I've wtched it numerous times since Thurs. night and every time I see the same words come from her mouth. She says plainly, "Carter" and that's it. She says it right after he sayd Lucy.

I must have watched the stabbing at least 15 times. It was put together to well. The guy stabbed Carter, with what I would guess was a scalpal. I did not see Lucy say anything to Carter, she was just breathing heavily and eventually closed her eyes. How could she have been there for 4 hours. She would of bled to death by then. Can someone e-mail me and answer these for me:

Did Lucy say anything?

Was someone injected with something?

How long was Lucy there?

Where was Lucy cut? If she was cut in the throat she would of bled to death within a few minutes.

Finally, Lucy was not sitting up in any of the previews.

PLEASE< someone e-mail me with answers, I am dying to know!!! Thanx.

She was probably trying to say, "Oh great, now who's gonna' save me!?" :)

-- Joy Norrie (joijoy@webtv.net), February 14, 2000.

I think she was probably just moving her lips ... she was trying to breathe. She might have mouthed "Carter," but ... I don't know that we can tell for sure. Her eyes are what said everything to me. And, I'm pretty sure they were stabbed with the lounge knife someone mentioned was missing.

So, we're still not sure but I agree that she could NOT have been there for four hours! The party wasn't going on the long & someone should have noticed the dark room. Maybe she was there for an hour at most. And if Carter blanked out in less than a minute than that must of just happened to Lucy or her wounds were'nt as extensive, or she is a LOT stronger than Carter. Just some insight.

Where does everyone get that part where she has been in there for four hours??? I never heard antying about how long she was in there. Can someone please tell me at what part in the show it says that. Thanks

-- Jessica (Blondie716@aol.com), February 14, 2000.

When Carter comes down from the roof with Abby and enters the party, he asks where Lucy is. When told she is still in curtain three waiting for the psych consult, Carter says that she was to suture a leg lac or something to that effect on a patient who has been waiting for four hours. Many deduce that she has been in curtain three bleeding to death for these four hours, but really, it just means that some guy has been waiting for her for that amount of time.

-- Vanessa (vmouhtaridis@home.com), February 15, 2000.

. . .and seeing as how Carter warned her about the leg lac numerous times before she was stabbed, I think we can deduce she wasn't lying on the floor anywhere near that long.

Since there is nothing in the show about them being "injected" (???) with anything, I must ask, where are you getting your information? Also, Lucy may have tried to mouth "Carter", but if so she wasn't successful, and she DEFINITLY didn't say anything more.

--Regarding 4 hour time period--

Carter said the fellow with the leg laceration had been IN THE ER for four hours. As anyone who has ever worked in or visited an ER can tell you, this means at least three hours would pass (triage, exam, xrays) before anyone would get around to finding a med student to do suturing. And we know that Lucy was already late in getting to it before Carter went up on the roof since he took the time to yell at her before he went. My guess is the show is going for about twenty minutes of downtime for Lucy (pre-Carter stabbing)

-- Hez (hez@doctor.com), February 15, 2000.

I have to agree with you here Hez. Just because the lac patient had been waiting 4 hours doesn't necessarily mean Lucy was lying there bleeding for four hours. She was attempting the whole time during the ep to get to the bottom of his trouble, so she could have been talking to him for a while or whatever before being stabbed, IMO. With her wounds, if she had been there 4 hours, i'm sure she'd have been dead, or at least unconscious, which she wasn't when Carter went down. I'd say more like 20 minutes or so. We'll all know for sure in TWO BLOODY NIGHTS!!!!!!! Can't wait, nope! :)
