Computer Glitch At Couthouse Not Y2K Related

By Julie Kyle/OF THE COMMERCIAL STAFF

With Y2K fears abound during 1999, both businesses and individuals wondered what problems the so-called computer glitch would (and could) do to their computers.

In a telephone conversation on Monday, Jefferson County Treasurer Elizabeth Rinchuso confirmed there has been a minor problem with their computers, but the problem was not Y2K-related.

The problems are expected to be solved within the next day or so.

County Management Information Systems - the company which owns the software the county treasurer's office uses and supports - had problems converting information from the county records into the county employees' W-2 forms.

This was the first year the county has used CMIS' services with the payroll accounts.

The county has now changed software vendors, and no delays should be expected by county employees as to when they might receive their W-2 forms.
