greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

No - Texas

I'm not an IRS agent and I don't play one on TV either. I'm just curious about whether the annual 1040's have been shipped and if so, where.

Reply first with: Yes or No and then your State. Then hit the 'Enter' key twice.

snooze, I filed electronically last year so I don't expect a 1040. My friend got his, however--NYC (that's a state, right?).

I'm not going to answer any questions, but I will give you some to mull over.

What will you do if your returns are thrown in the garbage, your checks sent for deposit, and any claims you may make for refunds be delt with on a "we'll address those issues as they occur" basis?

What will you do if a request for a refund is becomes a defacto "please audit me" request, as a way to stall, and to make an example of "troublemakers"?

Like I said I'm not going to answer any questions. If you've got any friends who work for the agency, ask them, and see what they say. If they'll talk to you. I won't.

Don't wanna think about this too much...

I haven't filed for a refund in years -- not since someone explained to me what a refund really is, you lending money to the government for several months w/o earning a penny in interest.

No - Kentucky, neither Fed nor state

I try to owe a bit each year, less than a thou or two. I then purchase USPS money orders for the amount and send it in. If they lose it, the postal inspectors will battle it out with the IRS-ers, kinda like matter and anti matter.

Got our 1040, south-central MI. For first time we filed E-wise this year and expect "refund" later this week. I thought their E-file software would be newer and less buggy. Strictly guessing.

State and Federal filed and minimal refund expected via direct deposit.

I raised my exemptions last year so that they wouldn't owe me much back. If they lose my 300 bucks, I could care less.

We have lived at the same address for over 25 years and have always received our forms promptly the first week of January. To date we have not received forms for this year. Hope this isn't a bad omen.

H&R Block does the paperwork, and we have never filed electronically.
