I have a few questions about tonights eppy. would someone with the injuries carter had be expected to get up and walk in twelve hours? He could barely move and almost lost a kidney! And what exactly hapened to him? i didn't understand what they were saying...guss i will wait for the medical commentary.Overall, i thought it was a great eppy--watching Romano and Carrie sew up Lucy at the end was heartbreaking, and then when they had to pull the sheet up over her head...I was also impressed with Benton's reaction--you could tell he cared about Carter and that he did not want to leave him. And poor Elizabeth..she looks traumatized...i can't imagine. promising someone you will help them, leaving for one minute, nd coming back to find she is not going to make it. i feel bad for everyone

Sure, Carter might walk 12 hours after surgery. My father-in-law just had a triple bypass, and he was up walking before that. It helps healing. HOWEVER... 30 minutes after surgery, I don't think he'd be that lucid and able to chit-chat with the gorgeous Eriq LaSalle. Hubba, I liked it when he showed emotion.

Erin, After a surgery like that, it's important to move to in order to maintain mobility, and facilitate organ function as well as blood reabsorption ( from the hematoma= bruise on his back). Up and walking is probably a little optimistic, sitting up and maybe a little shuffling would be more accurate. As for losing a kidney, you only really need one, and his other kidney can maintain more than adequate function, even if the other one is damaged. Oh, the wonders of the human body. Anyways, I am right with you on Corday. It is very heartbreaking. I think the way Mark had to go on to the next patient at the end of the show really showed the emotional struggle that can affect doctors. You are grieving but someone else needs to be saved. How poignant. Overall, although things were a little staged, the show was well done, and gripping. Sara

I have to agree with everything you said. Watching Dr. Ramano react that way was hard to watch. He usually shows no feeling I think this is the first time I've seen him show any emotion. And Dr. Benton actually worrying about Carter that was a first. Tonight was great its to bad they had to lose someone so close to them to finally show some emotion.

It was kind of the oddest thing ... people that don't usually show emotion so obviously (Benton, Romano, Weaver) had a really, really hard time dealing with things. Others who you expected to break down didn't (I expected more emotion from Dr. Malucho, I think). Great episode.
