I'm so glad that I'm not the only one to be saddened by the loss of Lucy. It was very upseting and unnecessary. I loved her character and had no idea that she was leaving the show. I was so upset I couldn't sleep, but it's good to read other responses and know that I'm not the only one that gets into the show.

I was really upset too. I did not know she was leaving, and both episodes were just to graphic...so bloody. I thought she was a great character, but apparently she was not happy with the direction they were taking her. It sucks.

I believe anyone who loves the show is saddened and disturbed by what happened to Lucy. I did not even know Kellie Martin was leaving the show and it caught me totally by surprise. All I've heard about the last year is Carol and Julianna Margulies leaving. I bet they don't kill her off. Yes it is unfortunate, but nontheless a great episode.

I also feel the loss of Lucy as though she were a real freind. I guess that is saying something about the quality of the program. Also, I remember Kellie Martin from her character in I think it was "Time goes on" the program with her downs syndrome brother. In that program she also played a full spectrum individual in a realistic setting. For heaven's sake I feel like I know the kid. Her quiet courage as she fought to survive and then pow, gone. I often feel that there is gratuitus pain depicted on film/tv, but in this case the death was consistant with the realism of the series. Tragedy is as real as happiness and maybe more frequent. ER is at the top of my TV watching experience, and I happen to go back to the golden age of the forties. Nothing has been this good.

Wow, Al you sewed up my emotions on Lucy's death as well. I too followed her remarkable performance in Life Goes On. I was so impressed with the depth of character she brought to the screen. Her angelic face and warm fresh personality masked in death last night was really tough to take.... Did anyone catch what Kerry's last word was? Romano said a nurse can do that as Kerry was covering Lucy with the sheet...I thought she said "done". I hope it was "no" but I didn't catch it. I was SO sad when I heard about 2 weeks ago that they were going to kill Lucy off becuase she wanted out of the show. I have to admit, when she was a new character in the series, I didn't take to her right away, but learned to love her.Last nights episode was a TEAR JERKER, I too was shaking through the whole show. Why couldn't they have had her meet the man of her dreams and move away! As far as Julianna Margolese, I think she her talant is greatly over rated. I would take Lucy any day!

Like all of you I was very sad to see Kellie Martin's character leave. I had no idea that she was leaving the show. I have been watching ER for sometime and I feel that this was one of the best episodes that I have seen. I cried alot more than normal. LOL Even though it is sweeps month, I thought the way they ended her role from the show was remarkable. But it could have been alot less bloodier.

I'm so glad that all you guys liked Lucy. I was on a different subject on this board, and they were all talking about how they were happy that Lucy left and that she was irritating! I couldn't believe it! I always thought Lucy was a great character/actress, one of my favourites, infact. I saw in the tv guide a few weeks ago that Kellie Martin was supposed to be leaving sometime during this season, and in the eppy when she was stabbed, it was almost immediate foreshadowing that her fate was not good. In the following eppy, the one that revealed all, I knew that she was almost dead, you know, after Lizzie and Robert shocked her internally like 10 times, and I wasn't quite crying until Lizzie said "time of death", that's when I lost it. After that, I still could stop crying. All the little details to let her colleagues know her fate was truly heartbreaking. From Chuny telling everyone at Doc Magoo's, to Carter saying to Peter, "Lucy's dead, isn't she." I couldn't stop crying for the rest of the night, as I know many couldn't. I'm really going to miss Lucy.

To Ann:

Last scene where Romano is sewing up Lucy and Kerry comes in. Kerry lifts the sheet to cover Lucy and Romano says "the nurse can do that" and Kerry responds "I know".

There was so much choked up emotion in her voice, it was hard to understand, but I watched the tape again and that's what she said. Heck, the second time I watched it, I even heard tears in Romano's voice.

I feel the same way. After watching the last episode, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I felt the impact of what happened as though I had experienced it personally. After reading the other replies, I was glad (like Robin) that I wasn't the only one to feel this way. I feel as though there will be an empty spot on ER that won't be easily filled.

I'm so glad that others feel the way I do about Lucy. I was/am depressed about the whole thing. I've never cried so hard in my life - well it feels that way anyway. I too loved Kellie Martin on "Life Goes On". I am really going to miss Lucy - she was strong and really cared for her patients. I'm glad though that she was killed off because Kellie wanted to leave the show, not because "the powers that be", wanted to get rid of her. And I *so* hope that they deal with the aftermath of Lucy's death (especially with regards to Carter), and not just act like it never happened - that Lucy never existed.

Good-bye Lucy, I'll miss you. Good luck Kellie I hope you find continual happiness.

I, too, was sad when Lucy died. I admit it always bugged me when she and Carter argued, but I liked her. One thing that just pulled my heart out was how sweet and innocent she looked when she whispered, "Thank you" to Elizabeth. Sooo sad!
