It just seemed disrespectful, like they couldn't think of anything else to put in there, so they just adapted an old scene. The death of Lucy, who they work with everyday, should be different than Raul's death.

Something to remeber, perhaps, is that for the bulk of the time while they're all at Doc Magoo's they're waiting for news--none of them know anything for sure until Chuney comes in. To me it felt natural--none wanted to be home, but none wanted to be hanging around the hospital either. It's the place they go to be a real family (think of the various baby showers held there) and so to have that scene take place anywhere else would have felt odd. Also, telling stories the way they were was both a way to remember the good times with Lucy/Carter but also to pull in the newer members of the clan (Dr. Dave, Luka)so the emotional impact can be shared by all. I can appreciate the complaint that it felt like a recycled scene though, and I think to counteract that, there'll need to be a scene this week where the gang is at the funeral, or congregating somewhere afterward, sharing some real grief, really confronting the loss.

I thought the momentum of the show stopped completely the first time they showed the newbies at Doc Magoos. I mean I know Carter and Lucy better than Abby, Deb, Luka and Dr. DAve. I didn't care what they had to say but I was dying to know how Carol, Mark, Benton, etc were affected. The second scene with the nurses present and telling stories was much better.

I liked it. I don't think people would have liked it any better if they had gone home. The would've said they were cruel and heartless for going home when two of their collegues in the hospital after being brutally stabbed.
