The Jukebox at Doc Magoo's

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

This thread is for those who REALLY, REALLY pay attention to details on ER...

Since the jukebox at Doc's seems to have a really eclectic selection (and what a compilation CD that would make!), anyone remember the names of other songs playing in the background during scenes at Doc's, especially the more memorable episodes?

I wish I could contribute, but I really wasn't paying attention until they played "Tell Me Something Good" and "Samba Pa Ti"...

Hello, this note is a bit off-topic, but you seem to be knoledgable in matters pertaining to ER, so here goes. Do you know if there really is a Doc Magoo in Chicago? I have several relatives living there and they tell me there is no such place. You see, my parents owned Doc Magoo Restaurant( which I named when I was 17), across the street from California Hospital in Los Angeles, and the story goes that one of the technical advisors for the show used to eat there when he was a resident at that hospital. I dont mind them using our name, actually its quite flattering, but recently I found out that they are selling merchandise with the name, "Doc Magoo", on it and I was thinking of taking legal action. I would appreciate any help.

You probably should be hiring a lawyer to look into this for you. Sounds like you might have a case, but you may need a lawyer to get some of these questions answered.

is the name of the restaurant on the show doc magoo or doc magoo's? if it isn't EXACTLY the same as your parents', rudy, then the network might have legal protection for their endorsements. i do find it odd that such a high-profile network and show wouldn't have researched it before they named the restaurant.

Ähem...to the original question (I have no clue about law in America..) I remember them playing "Under The Boardwalk" by the Drifters, in the season5 episode "The Good Fight", when Carter and Lucy find the little girl's father at Dog Magoo's. This wasn't that memorable though, I just liked the song...

I remember the jukebox playing "Heat Wave" by the Vandellas when Elizabeth and Kerry have breakfast while they are discussing Romano. The episode is "Choosing Joi".
