WHAT IS "TACKY"?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

I have heard this before, but most recently in a rerun where Carol was working on a crack addicted baby, and when she is listening to his heart, she saids "he sounds tacky". Just wondering if anyone knows what that means. Thanks

It is short for tachycardic (tachy). It means that the heart is beating at a rate faster than considered normal.

Basically what the other person said... "tachycardia"-a heart rate over 100 beats per minute.

Thanks both of you!

Tacky in a baby is over 180 (over 100 is in adults).
