Plane Makes Emergency Landing

The Associated Press A mechanical problem forced a Delta Air Lines Boeing 737 jetliner to make an emergency landing this morning minutes after taking off from Albuquerque's airport.

"When the pilot called the emergency in, it (the airplane) was 18 miles out," said Maggie Santiago, Albuquerque International Sunport spokeswoman.

She said she did not know what sort of mechanical problem the twin-engine airplane had.

"It doesn't look like there's a major problem," Santiago said.

Flight 2098, with 95 people aboard, departed the Albuquerque airport for a flight to Atlanta at 7:35 a.m., she said.

"They called in the emergency at 8 a.m. and landed about 8:10 a.m. and taxied to a gate," she said.

There were no problems during the landing, Santiago said.

Delta was trying to get the passengers on another flight to continue their trip, she said.

La tee da, at least one per day.

Gosh, there seems to be a lot more of these emergency landings, aborts, delays, detours, etc., since the rollover. And then there is the Alaskan Air crash and all the problems with the MD-80s and other similar type planes with horizontal stabilizer and/or jackscrew troubles. Makes one want to consider Greyhounding or Amtracking.

Seems more like two per day here lately.

yes, the rate of mishaps does seem to be increasing. I'll not take a plane for awhile if ever again
