Peter's karate punch in opening credits

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

Am I the only one who wishes they would take out that bit of Peter making that karate punch or whatever it is he is doing? I know it's nicely timed to the music but for some stupid reason it really bugs me. Plus...it's from the pilot. Certainly there's some other take of him that would suffice. Yes, this is trivial.

They did take out the bit with Carter, hair flapping in his face, pulling the crash cart by the paddles. That one always cracks me up...reminds me of when Carter was such a goober.

No, you're not the only one! Actually my daughter was watching the opening the other night and asked me what he was supposed to be doing. She thought he looked stupid... out of the mouths of babes..

I saw an old first season on reruns recently that has the old Carter with the panels shot, and I thought the same thing! Man, he looked dorky, so wet behind the ears student Carter.

I agree. It totally misrepresents his character, like he's emotive or something. Benton's strength as an actor are in his silences and stoicism...

Eriq LaSalle's #1 quality, when portraying Peter Benton, is taht he's freaking gorgeous.

I personally love the punch in the beginning. It's like a little bit of nostalgia for the old days. I makes me smile and I think they should keep it.

I agree with Alexis. I think it a great part of the opening credits. It shows that he's thrilled with his success -- not to mention it goes perfectly with the music.
