Problem with UK Videoplus TV Programming codes

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Videoplus is used in the UK to help users program video recorders. A numerical code (algorithm) is keyed into the VCR and converted into the correct date, time, channel, speed for future timer recordings.

Last night the code I keyed picked up the wrong channel. This morning I retried and got the same error. I checked the code in another newspaper - it was the same. I tried a number of other codes - same problem, it was picking up the wrong channel, usually my cable channel. I got a new newspaper this morning and tried progamming later today - same error. My brother-in-law tried some codes on his new JVC (I have a slightly older Panasonic) and got wrong timings.

I've used this facility without problems in the past. Can anyone confirm or deny this problem for me?
