Hi, I was just thinking about why Carol seemed not to concearned about what happened to Lucy and Carter.

As we all know Juliannas Maugulis is leaving at the end of this season and by the sounds of what people are saying about what is going to happen to Carter (possibly getting hooked on painkillers and possibly ODing on them)it sounds as if Carter is going to be in a long struggle Physically and emotionaly which will probably continue through this season, and next season. This plot about Carter sounds as if it might be the larger one through the next episodes or so. And because it seems that George Clooney isn't coming back the writers have to find some other way to write Carol Hathaway out of the show.

To summerize, the writers probably don't want to tangle Carol's leaving up with Carter's problems since she is leaving at the end of this season and Carter's problems will prbably continue through this season and next when Carol's not going to be there. This will then make two interesting new story lines to follow.

Hope You Understand What I'm trying to say. Any comments or other ideas?

Actually, I was thinking Carol didn't show as much emotion over Carter and Lucy because she was in shock. The question every one was asking was "how could this happen here." Aside from the medical risks, County General has more than it's share of dangerous situations.

That theory sounds logical, Carol and Carter (separately) will be the main focus probably. Though I do hope that Carol helps him out when he comes back to work. Obviously he's going to have trouble and Carol usually notices when people are having trouble, even if not everyone else does. Also, I was thinking about this, and every time Carol had a big announcement, Carter was always the first to jump up and congratulate her...at Christmas when Doug proposed, he was the first to put his arms around them both and congratulate them, and when she announced she was having twins (and that she was pregnant), he was the first to give her a kiss on the cheek. Plus he helped her out with his grandmother's payments for the clinic. So she had better care about him and help him out!

Yes, I have a feeling that she wasn't brimming with emotions (though she wasn't completely stoic, she looked upset) because a)she was in shock; b)she hadn't been there, it was surreal; c)Mark didn't want to talk about it then, they had work to do.

I agree that she may pick up on the fact that Carter needs help. He has been quite supportive of her, always the first to congratulate as somebody mentioned above. They have a big sister/little brother dynamic. Being that she's more perceptive to the emotions and needs of those around her, I would love to see some good Carol/Carter scenes.

Also, Carter just lost somebody close to him. While in a completely different matter, the same thing happened to Carol a year ago. Since people seem to feel that Carter was in love with Lucy (I'm not sure about that), maybe he'll be one of many elements to lead to a Doug & Carol reunion (something I'm personally set on). JMHO.

I just have to add my two cents worth. I also wondered at Carol's lack of respone, but after reading these ideas about why, I agree. Since Carol hadn't been there, the whole magnitude of the disaster didn't really sink in. She was sad, but not really devastated. I imagine she will be when it finally sinks in. I'm from Oklahoma, and while the bombing saddened me, it didn't really sink in until I saw the building in person a few days later. Then I can tell you, the tears FLOWED!!
