What's the price of gas in your area?

Here in Chicago, average prices per gallon seem to be: Regular: 1.69 Mid-grade: 1.81 Premium: 1.91

These prices reflect about a 20% increase over mid-Janaury's prices. Compared to the rest of the world, this is expensive to me but still pretty cheap.

Boston area, we're seeing $1.46 to $1.51 for mid grade. Not nearly as bad as Chicago. Interesting, considering the scarcity in home heating the NorthEast has.

In Salt Lake City we're looking at:

Regular $1.43 Mid $1.53 Prem $1.63

Although these sound low, remember cost of living here is relatively low as well. I would guestimate that these prices are up about 18% from where prices were on January 1.

Carson City today at $1.64/gal!!! unbelievable because two days ago it was $1.52. Why is a oil monopoly legal? Yet Bill Gates gets busted for screwing us every two years with an overpriced, overbloated os?? go figure.

Here in east-central Michigan I'm paying 1.81.9 for premium. That's about 6 cents more than one week ago. I feel as if there's a whole in the gas tank.

1.84 regular, 1.94 mid grade, 2.04 premium on Maui

In Lovely YUBA CITY, CALIFORNIA UnCruded is $1.65. 2 weeks ago it was $1.33. Many Places are @ $1.79 for UnCruded. Of course Mid & Premium are even Higher.

Just up the hill from you, Gene in Yuba City - here in Nevada City, CA price went up again 6 cents in 2 days. Regular unleaded ranges from 1.67 - 1.97!

In S. Palm Beach, the prices vary about +/-6" with the grades being $1.65, 1.75, 1.85. As of Sunday the 6th, it's been going up about 3-4" every other day. Impressive since they don't lower the price like that until tank is refilled and then the price is reduced.

Never thought I'd see it this high. The big squeez is on, time to buy your locking gas caps, even if you have a locking door!

With opec "maybe" planning to 'give' us more dino juice in late March it will take about 40 dayz to get to the US, that means a 14% price hike between now and then, unless the spr is released by the president. (spr=strategic petrol reserve)

The opec time is from the ground, to the dock, to the ship, cross the pond, refine the juice from sludge to gas, back to the ship, to the shore, to the depot, to truck, to gas station, and finally to your car. Whew!

14% is two months worth of 7% increases, assuming that opec does release the juice.

Unleaded ( cheapest ) in Danbury , CT. 1.59 / 1.67 mid. / 1.76 high test .

Take this a step further . Lots of people commute 60 - 80 miles a day to work. Soon , they either ask for raise to compensate for loss < OR , quit the job . If they are key personel , I'm sure they get the raise ; some others become unemployed .

Ever hear of the velocity of money ? Works both ways ! When you spend one dollar, ten people on average get the use of it that day . Reverse ; dollar not spent/earned , ten people lose that dollar ! .

It's a fast, slippery slope to depression , NOT EASILY STOPPED !

Other side of the coin ; hyper inflation as everyone tries to pass the new/added cost of product along to the next guy , because they ALL are affected by the cost of transportation , one way or another . If your preps have price tags , watch their doubling in price in about one year . Eagle
