SOS from Forum Moderator

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Toilet Paper Chonicles: Gallows Humor from the Y2k Underground : One Thread

Ah ha! I knew that SOS would get your attention! [grin]

In this case, however, it means "Still Ordinarily Silly."

At any rate, I wanted to let you know that I still check into the TP Chronicles forum every day. I haven't been posting lately, however, for the following reasons:

1) I've needed to concentrate on some family stuff (in keeping with my motto of "family first," ya know...)

2) Although I've run into many items I thought were worth posting, I bit my lip and didn't do so, because I knew to do so would divert my attention. I'm waiting for the right moment.

3) Still working on getting the book out the door. What a process. Sort of lends credence to that old adage, "Things always take longer than you think they will."

4) I do have paying clients I need to pay attention to. Nothing to do with Y2k, but an important "hat" I need to don on occasion.

5) I'm waiting to see how the "forum splintering" shakes out. Talk about the "Twilight Zone!" How many new forums ARE there now?

One other item for now. A couple of days ago, I removed the password protection from this forum, only to change my mind and re-install it the next day. I guess I thought it might be best to wait until the "heat" fades away. From what I could see with regard to what was happening over at "Biffy" and elsewhere, there still seems to be plenty of that going around.

So my question to you nice folks is this: Should we open it up? If so, when? "Vote here and vote often" as Mayor Daley used to say.

Take care. I miss you guys, but this TP aficionado is still here... just trying to become more focused. More to come!

:)

P.S. Billy Boy, WHICH forum is a "dog?" I'm cornfooosed!

I had forgotten that when there was a post it would show up in my e-mail. When Billy boy posted I decided to make a trip over to TP (I remembered my pass-word). What happened the middle of last month that stopped all posting? I visit all of the new forums that popped up when TB2000 went down.

It is very difficult for me to find things suitable for posting. Folks are trying but most of the material is rather "lightweight".

After I posted here just to see if anyone was home I received an unusual post from Robert Cook, a name I recognized, so I guess he can see in here.

So...FM.....keep writing and let us know when we can judge your work...

RB: Ed Yourdon moved the whole thing over to a new location/system. Check out the third to last post (at least that was the one that had the message in it last week.) I think Billy Boy is saying that that's the dog forum. It is much more difficult to peruse very quickly. each and every response has to be opened up individually. The link to the new board is: http://www.ezboard.com/ezboard, then there is a sub-board for TB2000. To Post you must register a valid email address

FM,

I presume he means the same one I'm thinking is a dog, Ed's new EZBoard TB2000. It has lots of nice bells and whistles, it has it's merits, but it just doesn't feel right. It's more like a Hyatt clone now.

Oh well. I'll just pop in a little more often here when I get a chance. Work has been pretty hectic, we're putting in all new Cisco routers and T-1's from a different provider, and on top of that, we're switching from a Novell/NT hybrid network to all NT. Lots of brain-strain lately. Not much time to surf.

Regards,

Powder

Yepper...its the new Yordon-forum I ain't got much use fer these daze... at least here its like a decent apartment... nice, clean, quiet with a good neighborhood around you... much better that the 'new and improved' Forum ala Yourdon! (No offense Ed!) Better we see what we can get goin here over a period of Time...even Chuck noticed the decline in the new forum, and how postins are nose-diving. I'll be here later... on and off!!!

I see my name has been taken in vain. ;-)

My point was just the opposite, that the posting numbers looked really GOOD. the data was in reverse chronological order so the numbers decreasedas you read down, but that should have been obvious from the dates asttached.

Now, see-ee, i really didn't LEAVE, I just backed away a bit.

Sorry haven't stopped by in a while. Been scurrying to get spring clean-up in gardens, coops, etc. done. My little ladies have been busy! Have six new goose nests and am hoping for a banner year so far as goslings are concerned. Lots of duck eggs to set, too. Have been working a lot of overtime as well, so haven't had as much time to peruse as I'd like. Take care all.

P.S.

Love Chapter Four!
