corday and romano

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

Ever since Rocket appeared I have been pushing for him to get together with Lizzie. Yes he is a jerk but isn't there someone out there that agrees they would make a good couple at least until she dumps him for someone better? With the exception of the scenes w/ there parents Mark and Lizzie are getting to be tiresome.

Out of curiousity, why do you think they would make a good couple? I find Romano very interesting and a good contributor to the show's dynamic, but I really don't think that Elizabeth deserves to be saddled with anyone so uncooperative, unresponsive and...mean. My opinion :) I can't picture the two of them bowling and enjoying eachother. Oh, I just realized that since Elizabeth and her mum are so similar, E would eat Romano for brekkie the way Isabel did. Fun.

She would eat him alive and that's why it would be so fun to watch. It would be hilarious to see them out on a real date and him fumbling through it. I think the mean spirited cockiness would be taken away, Once he's out of the hospital. After all you can tell he's trying to make up for being a loser in high school.

Carol, that last comment really made me laugh. I agree, I am DYING to see the two of them get together. . . hey it may not work out, but the two of them have more chemistry (or whatever that is) in one scene than Mark and Elizabeth have had in a year. Now that Romano is becoming "human", my sick, twisted desire might see the light of day. I wish he would at least get together with SOMEONE, he seems really lonely. . . and unless they're going to introduce a new character (please God, no!), it's gotta be Lizzy. No one else would fit.

How funny, I have been thinking the same thing! I'd love to see Romano with a strong, feisty woman who provide him with a challenge and keep him on his toes. Elizabeth's exactly the kind of woman who would be good for him. Plus, even though Romano can be a real jerk, I have some kind of soft spot for that character because I can see through the bluster to the lonely guy underneath -- he's obviously insecure (Napoleon complex???). Remember that time at Doc Magoo's when he said Elizabeth should consider going out on a date with him? That was so sweet and I could just see how nervous and scared he was. Also, I just don't see the chemistry between Mark and Elizabeth.

I am so glad you guys agree with me. My roommate makes fun of me all of the time about it. The Napoleon complex is exactly right but he's only doing it because he is so insecure. I'm not pushing them into a serious relationship but it would be so much fun. It might even make Mark jealous and turn him back into the interesting character he once was although don't hold your breath.

While the pairing does seem odd, I completely agree!! Mark and Elizabeth are cute, comfortable, content. They have a good relationship, but they're just lacking that special *something*, that chemistry and spark. Perhaps we've just been spoiled through the years, what with the incredible chemistry between Julianna Margulies & George Clooney, Sherry Stringfield & Anthony Edwards (*sigh*--the great onscreen relationship that never quite was), and even in Season 4, between Noah Wyle and Maria Bello. Anyhow, what I'm trying to say here, is that I see many possibilities with chemistry between the Romano and Elizabeth characters!!

I know opposites attract but in my mind Corday and Romano would be taking that too far. I mean the Chief of Staff/Surgery dating the Assoc Chief of Surgery? Would Corday even consider dating her boss?

Give Mark and Elizabeth some time. I like the way that the writers are building the relationship. We are seeing a side of mark we have not seen in a while (before his attack). For example, singing Piano Man in a bar... If this relationship is destined to fall apart (like every other relationship in Mark's life), I would not like it if Corday left him for Romano -- it is just too cruel.

Oooh! I forgot that Romano is Elizabeth's boss. Well heck, Carter dated his boss ... :-)

Did anyone watch last night's episode on TNT, "Good Luck, Ruth Johnson"? As Elizabeth was waiting for the elevator, Romano came up to her and gave her QUITE a hug, ostensibly to wish her luck at the M&M (what DOES that stand for, anyway?) Afterwards he looked at her in an unmistakably steamy way! Wow! Those eyes were definitely sending a message. I had forgotten about that scene and how potent it was.

what carter was doing with his "boss" i wouldnt exactly call it "dating" LMAO!!!

I agree with Judie that it would be too cruel, but I try to think in terms of what Elizabeth wants, not what is best for lonely nice Mark or lonely thorny Romano. Remember her explanation of Gigi! *And that Hug- that was so disgusting, it makes my skin crawl just thinking about it. I'm not entirely happy with the way Romano is being humanized. I used to hiss and boo whenever he came on stage, and now I'm starting to like him. And I do not want to like someone who was so disgusting with E and terrible with Doyle! Does anyone think that E would date him after the way he has behaved: the sexual harrassment, the blackmail about Peter, the constant jabs and manipulations? I personally really really don't think so. Also, I think the chemistry they have is not sexual but just two intense personalities at odds. So there :D lol (I finally figured out what that means)

Sorry to take up the space, but *to Cindy*: M&M means Mortality and Morbidity. Sounds like fun eh? That was my favourite thing that Elizabeth has ever done. She's brave.

-- May Archer (archerl@cadvision.com), March 10, 2000.

Thanks May! I like that about Elizabeth, too -- she's gutsy. I especially liked what she said at that M&M - I sure wouldn't want a doctor treating me to be on their 36th hour! Good for her for trying to break the "it's tradition, therefore it's right" mentality! :-)

As far as Lizzy dating her boss, remember she wanted to be Peter's intern when she was dating him. Anyway if she does get together with Rocket, I don't picture her thinking it through. Actually I picture her fighting it all the way. . . and that's what would make it so great to watch.
