I have been voting at the same place for many years and there has always been an exit pollster in attendance. It is my understanding that they work for a private company like Gallop and their data is provided under contract to a variety of sources. They select folks randomly and some will give info, some will not. My voting preferences have always been very personal and the few times Ive been asked, Ive declined.

NEVER seen one. Never seen any pollster or been asked to rate TV shows or anything.

Sheri -- me, neither! I've also never won anything in a contest or purchased anything from a door-to-door salesperson. As for exit pollsters, I actually saw my first one today, but it seemed like he was only asking perky 19-year-olds about their votes.

Me, Me, Me, ......

I saw my first one tonight while exiting the polls. She was a very nice lady with a scarf, nice clothes, and a pretty umbrella. I told her I voted for Lyndon LaRouche (snark, snuffle, whew...) So, if you saw a big jump in the LaRouche projections from California, it was me :^)

Just FYI, my understanding is that the exit pollsters only inhabit a few, select precincts from any one state, based on the demographics of the surrounding neighborhood and their past track record at being 100% average for some slice of the electorate. So, unless you live in one the few privileged precincts, you won't see hide nor hair of an exit polling creature. Live in one of the golden precincts and they will swarm on you like goupies on a rock star.

Saw one once, at a voting precinct that I'd voted at for some years before and after.

I suspect they "rove" the less populous parts of the country, and have more or less permanent stations in some of the more densely populated area.

I've also never seen an exit pollster. When I stopped to vote last night, though, I didn't even see any campaign shills in front of the building. I've been voting at this particular location for about 10 years, both primaries and gen. elections. This is the first time I didn't have to wade through the sea of people hawking their candidate. It was nice but very unusual.
