SCL U33B 1719 became Rock Island road slug #282. Would any one have any information on what happened to this locomotive and how the Rock Island came to acquire it? Thanks. Jeff

According to Greg McDonnell in his book "U-Boats" SCL 1719, B/N 36467, B/D 12/67, was

"wrecked Biloxi, MS 3/21/74. Unit derailed into Gulf of Mexico after span of L&N Biloxi Bay bridge knocked out by tug boat. To IMS, Hammond, IN, 9/74, then to RI. Rebuilt RI Silvis (IL) shops to road slug RI 282; re#RI 50."

My notes say it was later scrapped but I have no source to support that.
